Meet the Photographer

As an independent cultural documentary photographer since 2012, Karen meets people from diverse cultures at home and around the world. Her approach is about authentic connection - recognizing everyone's uniqueness while celebrating the universal language of a smile and human kindness. Traveling with a curious spirit, receptive heart, and cameras at her side, Karen forms camaraderie quickly with those she meets, readily accepting invitations into peoples' communities, homes, celebrations, and often around a shared meal.

Karen's goal is using her photography for good. She handles social and emotional situations with care, drawing on more than thirty years' experience in healthcare as an RN, in nursing leadership roles in Children's Hospitals, and in senior living. Adhering to high ethical standards, Karen has photographed for NGOs working with refugees, troubled youth, sex trafficking survivors, malnourished children, people with terminal or chronic illnesses, healthcare workers, and elders.  

By sharing her images she hopes to awaken your sense of wonder and spark a deeper appreciation of diverse people, cultures, and perspectives – tapping into the awareness that our world is indeed a precious place with every individual having worth.  

Karen resides in the U.S. just outside of Denver, Colorado.
